Editorial Policy

1. Our Commitment to Editorial Standards
ProxyEarth is committed to publishing accurate, transparent, and useful information about phone numbers, country codes, and telecom systems. This Editorial Policy describes the standards we follow when creating, reviewing, and updating the content on our platform, including educational articles, country pages, FAQ entries, and data displayed through our tools.
2. Data Sourcing Process
All data and information on ProxyEarth is sourced from one or more of the following:
Open-Source Libraries
We rely on Google's libphonenumber, an open-source, peer-reviewed library that maintains phone number formatting data for every country. This is updated regularly by Google and the open-source community.
Public Telecom Registries
Country-level data including calling codes, area codes, and numbering plans is sourced from ITU (International Telecommunication Union) publications and national telecom regulator documents where publicly available.
Third-Party APIs
For dynamic lookups (carrier, timezone, location), we use API providers that aggregate publicly available data. We select providers with transparent sourcing and good accuracy track records. We clearly label data as "where available" because API coverage is not universal.
3. Content Creation Standards
Our editorial team follows these standards when writing or reviewing content:
- All factual claims are verified against at least one primary source before publication
- We clearly distinguish between definitive data and estimates or approximations
- We use plain language accessible to a general audience while maintaining technical accuracy
- We do not publish content that could facilitate harassment, stalking, or surveillance
- We disclose limitations and caveats in data wherever relevant (e.g. "carrier data may be outdated due to number portability")
- We do not accept paid placements or sponsored content that misrepresents our data
4. Review and Update Process
We review our data and content regularly to ensure accuracy:
- Tool data: Updated when our underlying data providers release new versions (typically monthly for libphonenumber updates)
- Country pages: Reviewed and updated at least annually, or sooner if we receive a credible report of inaccurate data
- Blog articles: Reviewed annually; material changes are noted with an "Updated" date
- FAQs: Updated when we receive recurring questions or when platform features change
5. Corrections Policy
We take corrections seriously. If you spot inaccurate, outdated, or misleading information on ProxyEarth, please report it using our issue form.
We will review all credible reports within 5 business days. If a correction is warranted, we will update the content and acknowledge the correction where appropriate. Significant factual corrections to articles will be noted at the top of the affected page.
6. Independence
ProxyEarth editorial decisions are made independently. We do not accept payment to alter, feature, or suppress information. Our data sourcing, tool results, and content reflect our best effort at accuracy — not commercial relationships.
